The Children's Museum of Memphis

We had an awesome opportunity to check out the local children's museum. Now, I held a very high standard for such a trip based on Omaha's fine example. But this place was nothing short of amazing!! To start...a huge part of a Federal Express airplane! This is the Fed Ex Headquarters, so it makes good sense. Anyway...they can climb the stairs to the cockpit! Posted by Picasa

Pilot to CoPilot...

How cool is this? There's even a control tower! You can communicate from cockpit to tower! So after flying the plane to Nini's house, Grandpa Dick's house, and Lou Lou's house...we (mommy included, YIKES!!) moved on... Posted by Picasa

Weee....

A huge curvy slide takes us from the plane to the ground. I was sort of hoping for one of those inflatable slides for emergency evacuations. But, Oh well. Posted by Picasa

The River

This amazing museum has an actual river, with a natural current, waterfalls, the whole deal. Considering the boys love to play with water and don't get enough of it at home, this was an easy sell. In fact the hardest part was keeping them from drinking the water, getting soaked up to their elbows and finally tearing them away. Posted by Picasa

More water fun.

Notice the wet sleeve. Posted by Picasa

Max gets his groove on.

This area is too neat! It's called Time Square and it's a room filled with mirrors, lights and holograms it's filled with soft futuristic music that the boys got into. I was mesmerized! Posted by Picasa

A favorite spot

Just like at the museum in Omaha, their favorite spot, where they spent the most time, was the mini-kitchen! Here Porteris tasting some Watermelon while Max looks on hungrily. They cooked up spaghetti and ice cream concoctions and drank milk and orange juice. Too cute! Porter stayed very much glued to this area while Max stumbled upon something else... Posted by Picasa

Of Course!

If there is anything Thomas, you know Max will find it! And did he ever. This toy is likely for a younger little man but Max didn't mind. He was perfectly content to push the tiny Thomas around the track. He does this while reciting lines from his favorite Thomas and friends shows. Posted by Picasa

What a face

Same place different face.

This little knothole is part of a perfectly sized playhouse complete with a bridge and slide. It and the kitchen are in this really great toddler area. While it was just right for them to romp around in, really the whole museum was age appropriate...still it fits all ages really comfortably. I am so excited to watch them get older and get into all the different areas. Needless to say, I was so impressed, we bought a family membership immediately. It is so worth it! Posted by Picasa

Our little Firemen

Much like in Omaha, a full size fire engine captured their attention for a good while. Porter had to wear the hat, backwards! Posted by Picasa

So cute.

What a day

This face speaks loudly for the fun had on this day. His sweet contented eyes and warm Max smile screams, "thank you mommy, we're having so much fun!" And with that little look, I am complete. It's amazing really how fulfilled you can feel simply by making your children or someone else happy! I hope you're all happy and well. Thank you for taking the time to check out our blog.
As for me, I'm about to get back to the great job search. Joel is off to another day of work in a perfectly positively challenging place.
And, as we speak, the boys are "sliding" it's more like bouncing, down the stairs and being generally mischevious. Posted by Picasa
