Getting ear tubes put in proved to be much more traumatic for the parents than the kids! We woke at the crack of dawn to arrive at the hospital by 5:30am. No problem for our little men you would have thought they owned the CARES unit at Children's hospital. Such troopers. The only fusses we had to battle...Porter didn't want to change into his hospital issued jammies. And Max wanted to color on any surface other than paper. But saying goodbye to us, being rolled away on beds with strangers at their sidees??? No big deal. Max played with bubbled and greeted other nurses in the hallway as he left us. Porter, once halfway down the hall, turned to me raised his hand toward me and with a mouth full of binkie simply said "Mommy". It was enough to make me cry. Just another one of those reminders that they're growing up quicker than I can manage. Anyway, tubes are in, no ill effects. In fact, the burse warned us they'd probably be sleepy when we went home, possibly cranky, too. We hoped for sleepy, but not a chance. They were not phased by the early wake-up call or the surgery...they played hard for a few more hours as we struggled to stay awake. Aaaahhhh naptime, finally.
Prayers Answered
We wanted to thank you for your prayers for our friend Darcy. We got the good news today, she's home, recovering. There will still be a great deal of blood work, doctor visits and careful activities from here on out, but it seems our good friend is out of the woods.
Getting Big Fast!
It never ceases to amaze me the growth of a toddler, in every way. Both boys are trying to talk up a storm. Porter is very good with the word "no". As are most 2-year-olds I'm certain. Max isn't big on saying "no", but he voices his opinion in many other ways. Today, it was by smacking his little bro on the head. They're learning letters, numbers, and always new words. Porter is the more vocal of the two. He loves the color blue, can recognize letters M, N, (both of which are multi-syllabic) O and his very favorite, B. I could go on for hours.
More later, and more pics on the way too.
